URTH CAFFE OPENING
A TASTE OF LA IN DUBAI
14 Nov 2018
Since first opening in California, Urth Caffe has reached Japan, Saudi Arabia and now Dubai. With its all-natural ingredients, the new edition to City Walk opened its doors on October 24th and already took the instagram game by storm - we had to see what all the fuss was about.
Boasting A-list advocates such as Kylie Jenner and Hayley Baldwin, it’s no surprise that the chain was highly anticipated in Dubai. While it had been well over a week since its opening, Urth Caffe was enjoying a healthy turnout when we visited - it was around mid afternoon and many of the tables were full with customers. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rahsid Al Maktoum was also snapped at Urth Caffe this week, so we could already tell business was going well.
The decor is casual and chic, a cute mix of Californian bohemian interior design, nature and Dubai’s wooden urban feel. The caffe pushes the natural feel through two (very-real-looking) olive trees, complimented by handmade tiles and wooden interiors. There’s also an open-plan pizza oven, outdoor seating and free fruit-infused water at the centre of the caffe (that definitely earns some brownie points!).
Now, the menu. Urth Caffe is known for its interesting organic coffees and fine teas, such as their Japanese Tea Latte, Spanish Latte Granita or Organic Green Tea Boba, sourcing the finest imported black, green, white, and oolong teas from around the world. While serving a large selection of hot and cold beverages, the chic urban caffe also offers a variety of desserts and dishes, such as matcha pancakes, vegan chocolate cake, caravan kale salad, paninis and an in-house selection of wood fire pizzas - plenty to choose from.
We ordered the grilled cilantro chicken breast pesto; this was lovely, fresh and filling. The honey vanilla latte was nice but a bit too sweet for our liking. All in all, the decor is attractive, the menu is vast, the staff are great and the price is quite average for Dubai’s standards. We’d love to visit on a morning to try the huge breakfast menu (oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, french toast, breakfast favourites and egg dishes - yummy!), which runs until 12.30pm.
If you’re a foodie, caffe lover, or well-being connoisseur, this might just be the place for you.
